Pocket Scanner ("the app") is an Android application that scans documents with your camera and turns them into PDF files. This policy explains what the app does and does not collect.
Everything you scan stays in private app storage on your device. Scanned images, documents and the PDFs the app generates are never uploaded, transmitted, synced or backed up to us or to anyone else. We cannot see them. They are not sent to a server, because the app has no server.
Scanning, cropping, edge detection and PDF creation all run entirely on your device and work with no internet connection at all.
Deleting a document in the app deletes its files from your device. Uninstalling the app removes all of them.
The app requests camera permission for one purpose: capturing the documents you choose to scan. The camera is never used in the background. Captured images are written straight to private app storage. If you decline the permission, the rest of the app still works but you cannot scan.
The app is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob. To do this, Google's advertising SDK collects and processes certain data from your device, independently of us:

This data is collected by Google, not by us. We never receive it. We have no access to any information about you as an individual — only anonymous aggregate earnings totals. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Your scanned documents are never shared with advertisers or used to target ads. The ad system has no access to them.
Settings → Privacy → Ads on your device, which prevents ads being personalised
to your past activity.
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Ad content is restricted to a general audience rating.
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Your documents are retained on your device for exactly as long as you keep them there.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
